Alberto García, a student of the Dual Degree in Law and International Relations (E-5), won the world championship of public speaking in Spanish, held at the Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires. The tournament, organised by the LEDU Liga Española de Debate Universitario and the Red Latinoamericana de Cooperación Universitaria, had 600 candidates from 80 universities from more than 20 countries.
For Alberto, "winning this championship is the finishing touch to a seven-year career in the world of public speaking and debating", he explains. It was an achievement that culminated in a hard-fought final against Óscar Rodríguez, a student at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
Alberto's journey to achieve this goal has been tough, as he tells us, his biggest challenge for this championship "has been to prepare myself for an international competition with all that that entails. Different cultures, different juries, different styles...". But, without a doubt, the effort has been worth it, With the support of his family, friends and the entire university community at Comillas. "My university has always supported me. The strength that Comillas has given me will always be in my heart", García emphasises.
To congratulate Alberto is an understatement. It is a source of great pride to have students like you at Comillas.
