The Faculty of Theology at Comillas is the oldest in Spain (1904). It has a qualified and motivated teaching staff, made up of men and women, religious men and women from different congregations, diocesan priests and lay people. Its teachers and tutors are distinguished by their seriousness, rigour and personalised attention to our students; and they have a theological style rooted in the best ecclesial tradition, which tries to be faithful to the Word of God and to the life and culture of the people of our time, whom it views with cordial openness and a critical attitude.

During the academic year 2023-2024 the Faculty of Theology was made up of 51 professors, with a clearly international background (Boston, Frankfurt, Paris, Rome). Of these, 39 were dedicated to the University, 46 held PhDs, 20 had been positively evaluated by independent university quality agencies (ANECA or ACAP) and 20 had at least one six-year research period. In addition to this magnificent staff, we have the collaboration of professors from the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences (oral and written expression, ancient languages and philosophy); and from the Faculty of Canon Law (legal subjects). Our faculty carries out an important research activity, both in the publication of books or chapters in books, in articles in indexed and non-indexed journals, presenting papers and communications in congresses and scientific conferences. Likewise, outstanding teaching and dissemination work in other educational centres close to Comillas, as well as in the university itself through participation in study days or similar events.

This research and dissemination work has been recognised by having reached 29th place in the QS World University Rankings 2024, in the field of "Theology, Divinity & Religious Studies". For several years, the Faculty of Theology has been ranked among the 50 best in the world, and the first Spanish faculty in its field, and among the first Catholic in the world.

On Monday, 2 September 2024, the new academic year 2024-2025 formally began at the Faculty of Theology, with the start of the first term.

Below are the main documents for the new academic year:

You can also consult the training programme of Aula Alonso Schökel, Aula Pedro Fabro and Aula de Moral y Pastoral, which offer open lectures on biblical themes, spirituality and public theology.
