More and more social impact projects through education
Green Finance Institute España and Comillas sign a collaboration agreement to integrate the Service-Learning model into academic programmes
30 October 2024
Green Finance Institute España (GFI) and Comillas Pontifical University have signed a four-year collaboration agreement to integrate the Service-Learning model into the university's training programmes. Thus, students from different degrees at the university will apply their academic knowledge in real projects with a focus on social impact.
In the 2024-2025 academic year, GFI Spain will collaborate in the Social Business Consultancy course, where fourth-year students of International Relations and Business Analytics will analyse barriers and funding proposals to achieve Net-Zero schools in Spain. In addition, another group of students will work on the design of an innovative financial product to facilitate the deployment of charging points for electric vehicles, applying their knowledge to develop innovative solutions.
Carlos Ballesteros, coordinator of the service learning course at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (Comillas ICADE), says that the agreement is important because "it reaffirms the commitment of the university and the Faculty to a learning methodology that puts students' knowledge, skills and competencies at the service of society, while opening their eyes to unfamiliar realities, thus provoking reflection on how the profession they have chosen can be used to transform the world".
Eduardo Brunet Álvarez de Sotomayor, Director of Green Finance Institute Spain, believes that "this is a great opportunity to consolidate the work of GFI Spain in collaboration with the university environment for the coming years".
Service-Learning is an educational method that seeks to connect theory with practice, allowing students to address concrete challenges in society.
