The Vice-Rector for Students and Alumni, Belén Urosa, was in charge of the welcome, accompanied by the Vice-Dean for International and Institutional Relations at Comillas CIHS, José Manuel Sáenz; the head of studies for the degrees in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education and Physical Activity and Sports Sciences at the faculty, Alfonso López, and the students, Gabriela Lastra, student of the Dual Degree in Primary Education and Early Childhood Education, and Sara Gavín Cabanillas, student of the Dual Degree in Primary Education and Early Childhood Education.
The inaugural conference was given by Javier Manuel Valle, lecturer at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and expert in educational sciences, who spoke in depth about the skills needed by future teachers and the importance of training in different places in an increasingly complex world.
During his speech, he stressed the importance of internationalisation and of integrating an increasingly global perspective, an approach that seeks to adapt training systems to an interconnected world, promoting collaboration and intercultural understanding from the regional to the international level. In his speech, he stressed that, "it is not only about opening doors to students and teachers from other countries, but also about preparing future citizens for a diverse and changing world, with common challenges such as sustainable development".
According to Valle, "to successfully address inclusive classrooms, academics need to develop specific competences". He also emphasised the importance of studying in other countries, thus stepping out of one's comfort zone. "Instructors are pathways to meet this challenge and have a crucial role in creating global citizenship, as they inspire and educate future generations to act responsibly and ethically. In a complete pedagogical system, teachers not only transmit knowledge, but also promote values such as solidarity and respect for diversity". In conclusion, he encouraged embracing internationalisation not only as a didactic trend, but as a mission to transform and enrich education worldwide.
Through presentations, round tables and practical workshops, during the conference, attendees acquired the necessary skills and tools to successfully operate in globalised educational environments.
