The practice of law and the digital transformation of society require constant innovation in teaching and research. Under this premise, the new CMS Comillas Digital Transformation Observatory has been presented, the result of the union of the Faculty of Law (Comillas ICADE) and the law firm CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo. The new observatory "is set to become a European and global reference in the legal analysis of the social, economic and legal processes of digitalisation", in the words of Javier Ibáñez, lecturer in Law at Comillas ICADE and co-director of the Observatory together with Alfonso Codes, partner at CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo.

CMS and Comillas Pontifical University will strengthen applied research in the field of digital law. In this way, the Observatory builds its research activity from global ICT standards (ITU, IEC, CEN, ISO...), dealing in an interdisciplinary way with the relationship between society and digital law. It also has the support of Alastria, the world's first public network of country licensing, with more than 500 associated entities, of which Comillas is a co-founder.

The objectives of the CMS Comillas Digital Transformation Observatory include "examining the effective scope of legal and technological security in the implementation of digital transformation projects in the value chains of different industries and their virtual business models, and fostering cross-sector technological entrepreneurship, the capacity for digital self-development and the knowledge and compliance with digital law of economic and legal operators in various professional contexts", according to Ibáñez.
