The commemorations began with a meeting at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (Comillas CIHS), in which his facet as a lecturer was remembered and in which the Vice-Dean for Research at the Faculty, Rafael Jódar, participated, highlighting the importance of his legacy, emphasising his commitment to autonomy as a capacity for authentic action, personal governance based on reason and the fundamental value of community and cooperation.
In the afternoon, and in Alberto Aguilera, Comillas Alumni organised the presentation of the Comillas Philosophy Club. Those present recalled the transcendence of his humanistic legacy, remarking that "Caffarena understood philosophy not only as an abstract exercise, but as a path towards a profound understanding of human existence".
Caffarena's impact on Spanish philosophy continues to this day. His reflection on Christian faith and the human condition continues to be relevant. The commemoration of the centenary of his birth was brought to a close by the rector of the university, Antonio Allende, SJ, who stressed the importance of this tribute, underlining "the relevance of his mission in today's society, where fostering dialogue and mutual understanding is more necessary than ever".
