Nearly 300 researchers, lecturers and administration staff from the nine universities of the EUPeace alliance gathered for the first academic networking event of EUPeace, the university network comprising Philipps Universität Marburg, Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, Çukurova Üniversites, Sveučilište u Mostaru, Università della Calabria, Université de Limoges, Západočeská Univerzita, Universiteti i Prishttinës and Comillas. It is supported by Erasmus+ funds as part of the European Universities initiative.
This meeting gave participants the opportunity to learn more about the partnership, meet the EUPeace community and exchange ideas with their peers from other universities. "This is the basis for further cooperation," emphasised Dr. Evelyn Korn, director of the alliance, during her welcome speech at the virtual assembly.
The Vice President of the University of Marburg (Germany) also explained the importance of EUPeace in the European educational landscape. "What would a more peaceful world look like, with more opportunities, better quality of life and greater personal and collective development? The members of the alliance hope to find answers to these questions and apply them to our society, through informed and interdisciplinary analyses covering all areas, from the development of new technologies to their social implementation with joint study and teaching programmes."
The networking, moderated by Susanne Ulrich, an expert in coaching and leadership, was structured according to the academic interests of the schools due to the high number of participants. At the end of the day, university representatives shared their experience and ideas for future collaborations. Paloma Bilbao, Vice Rector for Academic Strategy, Innovation and Internationalisation at Comillas Pontifical University, mentioned that "EUPeace is fundamental to take the internationalisation of COMILLAS to another level" as this event has allowed the collaboration between people from the different centres to be set in motion.
