The first International Congress of the Etty Hillesum Chair (directed by the professor of the Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá, Rosana Navarro) was held at the CITeS in Avila (Centro Internacional Teresiano Sanjuanista - Universidad de la Mística) from 12 to 14 April, under the title: "Etty Hillesum: intimate writing, exposed writing".
Various authors, from different disciplines and points of view, analysed the style, genesis and importance of Etty Hillesum's notebooks in her spiritual process, which continues to captivate all those who read them today.
The Director of the University Institute of Spirituality, Fernando Millán, participated in the congress with a paper entitled: "Etty Hillesum and Teresa of Lisieux: some convergences of two great women". Comillas Pontifical University collaborates regularly with CITeS, both in the academic curriculum of the Master's Degree in Spiritual Theology and in the organisation of conferences and seminars.
Professor Fernando Millán Romeral holds a PhD in Theology from the Department of Dogmatic and Fundamental Theology, and is an expert in sacramental theology and spirituality, among other disciplines. He is currently the Director of the University Institute of Spirituality at Comillas.
