What is the Bachelor of Theology?
This is a canonical degree awarded by the Holy See that the Spanish state recognises as a Degree in Theology. There are three years of study after two years of philosophical studies, which can be taken at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences (Comillas CIHS).
This bachelor's degree offers both candidates for the priesthood and consecrated men and women, both lay men and women, a systematic and rigorous higher education in the various theological disciplines and according to Catholic doctrine (Systematic Theology, Morals, Sacred Scripture, Church History, Pastoral Theology, Liturgy...). In accordance with the founding aims of the faculty, it offers a theological and human preparation that is especially valuable for those who wish to dedicate themselves both to the priesthood and to other ministries or ecclesial services.

- Admission Profile
Access to the first cycle of the Faculty of Theology (bachelor's degree) is open to those who have completed the first cycle or have a degree in Philosophy (pure) and those who have completed a two-year pre-theology degree in Philosophy of 120 ECTS or equivalent at a higher academic centre and are in possession of the corresponding university entrance qualification.Foreign students who have not studied in Spanish and wish to begin the bachelor's degree must accredit their language level by means of the DELE B2 Diploma (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera), awarded by the Instituto Cervantes or by another equivalent language institute. In the latter case, the Dean of the faculty, in consultation with theInstituto de Idiomas Modernos de Comillas, will decide whether or not it is equivalent.Students who do not have the required DELE must take a language test, offered by the Faculty of Theology at the beginning of the academic year through the University's Institute of Modern Languages.

Yes, there are different scholarships available depending on the faculty and degree programs, but all of them are aimed at supporting students and their families in the payment of monthly fees. In general, grants are between 40% and 75%, although in exceptional situations they can reach higher percentages. Comillas students can also access different public grants such as the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training Scholarship or the Excellence Scholarship of the Community of Madrid. In collaboration with some colleges and university residences, Comillas also develops a scholarship program for accommodation in Madrid, aimed at those students who need to travel from other places.
