Why study the Diploma?
The rail sector is undergoing an unprecedented period of expansion and modernisation, driven by heavy investment in Europe and Spain. This mode of transport, recognised for its efficiency and low emissions, is attracting the attention of governments and companies committed to sustainability and efficiency in transport.
However, despite its growing importance, specific training in railway signalling and control systems has been scarce in Spanish engineering schools. Since 2008, the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería (ICAI) has addressed this educational gap with the Master's Degree in Railway Systems (MSF), a full 60 ECTS programme that can be taken full-time in one year or part-time in two.
Even so, many working professionals in the railway sector are looking for more specific and flexible training that fits their schedules and needs. The Expert Diploma in Railway Signalling and Control Systems has been designed precisely to meet this demand. This diploma, made up of 4 key MSF subjects totalling 12 ECTS, offers intensive and specialised training that is highly valued by engineering companies, manufacturers and railway operators.
Benefits of studying this diploma:
- Specialisation and Upgrading: Acquire advanced and up-to-date knowledge in signalling technologies and railway control systems.
- Flexibility: Ideal for working professionals who need to combine their training with their work.
- Recognition and Prestige: A degree from the prestigious ICAI School of Engineering, which will position you as an expert in a booming sector.
- Career Opportunities: Improve your professional profile and open up new job opportunities in a sector with a high demand for qualified specialists.
Methodology
The methodology integrates theoretical and practical aspects, both in the presentation of content and in assessment:
- Classroom classes, with special attention to the study of real cases and experiences.
- Practical classes in railway installations of collaborating companies (laboratories, control centres, etc.), led by professionals from these installations.
- Laboratory classes in ICAI computer rooms using professional software for the analysis, simulation and design of railway systems.
- Individual and group work.
The master's degree uses information and communication technologies through the University's training tool, with access to extensive teaching documentation for each subject, updated on the reality of the railway sector.
