The latest issue of the Journal Sal Terrae, of Pastoral Theology of the Society of Jesus, is dedicated to the ecclesiological question, under the title "Dialogue after 60 years of Ecclesiam suam" (December 2024, volume 112/11, no. 1305). On this occasion, two professors from the Faculty of Theology at Comillas participate as authors in two articles.
Professor Marta García Fernández, PhD, an expert in Sacred Scripture, publishes her article entitled""In the beginning was the Logos" and the Logos became dialogue", which is summarised as follows:
This article deals with the subject of dialogue in Scripture. It takes as its starting point the fact that God is conceived of as Word and explores it in depth, drawing conclusions that have to do with the biblical understanding of God, man, the Church and creation. Having laid these foundations, it goes on to approach the great milestones of salvation history from the perspective of the soteriology of dialogue and its importance for the fabric of ecclesial communion.
Key words: Logos, relationship, synodality, self-giving.
On the other hand, Prof. Carmen Márquez Beunza, PhD, expert in Ecclesiology and Ecumenism, publishes the article "Identity and dialogue: challenges of our time". The following is a summary of her publication:
Today we are witnessing an unprecedented identity debate. The major transformations that have taken place in recent decades have affected the way in which personal, national, political and religious identities are shaped. In the context of societies marked by pluralism and secularisation, the challenge is to shape a religious identity that is solid and open to dialogue, which avoids both the risk of relativism and the temptation of defensive entrenchment of one's own faith. The encyclical Ecclesiam suam reminds us that dialogue is a central category of Christian identity and constitutes the most appropriate way of relating between the Church and the world.
Keywords: Identity, dialogue, pluralism, relativism, fundamentalism, Ecclesiam suam
