On 25 and 26 October, the VII Meeting of those in charge of offices for the protection of minors was held in Madrid, organised by the Coordination and Advice Service of the offices for the protection of minors of the Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE) and the CONFER, dealing with the profound value of the family as a protective factor in the issue of abuse.
In this context, the meeting counted with the intervention of the Professor of the Faculty of Theology Javier de la Torre. The lecture of the Professor delved into the importance of the family as an educator of affectivity and sexuality, the family as a space for building self-esteem and bonds, respect for intimacy, the experience of a healthy corporeality, egalitarian models and good treatment, the expression of feelings and maturity.
To this end, she spoke of five pillars of affective-sexual education in the family, five principles to orientate oneself and five virtues to build affective-sexual adults in the family. "Affective-sexual education in the home (and at school) are essential preventive means in the prevention of abuse that we should consider more seriously", comments Professor de la Torre.
