The presentation of the book "Escritos Esenciales de Jesuitas del siglo XX", recently published in the Manresa collection (number 88) by Editorial Mensajero (G. C. Loyola), took place on May 22nd in the Conference Hall of the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (Alberto Aguilera 23). This collective work has been organised by the GEI (Grupo de Espiritualidad Ignaciana) and presents a series of significant texts by Jesuits who have worked in various fields: from superiors general of the Society of Jesus and texts of the various general congregations held in the 20th century, to renowned theologians and philosophers, including a section dedicated to teachers and formators and another to witnesses who lived their vocation in complex and difficult situations.
The event was organised by the University Institute of Spirituality at Comillas and was attended by professors José García de Castro (who gave a detailed overview of the genesis of the work and its various parts), Nurya Martínez Gayol (who highlighted some of the keys to the spirituality and theology of these authors that could be very significant for the 21st century) and Professor Fernando Millán Romeral, Director of the Institute, who moderated the event and who underlined the importance of this veritable arsenal of texts of different styles for understanding some of the keys to the theology and spirituality of the last century.
All three agreed that this work can be used both in academic environments for the study of theology, spirituality or the contemporary history of the Society of Jesus, as well as for various groups of Ignatian orientation, or even for a prayerful and meditative reading of the texts.
