The Endesa Foundation has awarded its 9th Scholarships and Awards for Academic Excellence to students at Comillas Pontifical University who stand out for their excellent academic record, so that they can advance in their educational career and prepare themselves for the professional challenges of the future.
During the 2024-2025 academic year, 45 students with a STEM profile from all ICAI and ICADE undergraduate degrees or dual degrees that include Business Analytics, and master's degrees in engineering will receive financial aid to cover between 40% and 85% of the cost of their studies.
In addition, for the first time, a single prize of 5,000 euros will be awarded to the best STEM academic record at the university and scholarships will be awarded to cover 100% of the monthly fees for those students who need it most, thus increasing the social impact of the programme. In addition, support will continue to be given to those students who already receive scholarships, provided they meet the established economic and academic criteria.
Juan Sánchez-Calero, Chairman of Endesa and the Endesa Foundation, stressed that "supporting excellent students like those at Comillas is not only an act of justice, but also an investment in the future. You represent the type of leaders that our society needs".
For his part, José Bogas, CEO of Endesa, stressed that "promoting quality and innovative education is fundamental to building a society with greater opportunities; we want to promote university excellence and ensure that no student sees their aspirations cut short due to a lack of resources".
The Rector of Comillas, Antonio Allende, SJ, said that "thanks to collaborations such as the one we have with the Endesa Foundation, we are moving towards quality, innovative education that promotes sustainability and opens up new opportunities for those who need them most".
Since the start of this partnership, a total of 320 scholarships have been awarded, benefiting more than 100 students at the university, with a total investment of Euro 2.27 million. One of them is Silvia Borrajo González, a student on the Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management and Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, who shared her experience during the event and expressed her gratitude to the university and the Endesa Foundation. "Thanks to this support, my dream of studying at Comillas Pontifical University has come true".
