As of 23 April 2024, the Holy See has published the appointment of the priest José Antonio Álvarez and Vicente Marín as Auxiliary Bishops of Madrid.
Vicente Martín (La Nava de Santiago, 1969) is currently Episcopal Delegate of Cáritas Española and, since 2020, Director of the Secretariat of the Episcopal Subcommission for Charitable and Social Action.
José Antonio Álvarez (Madrid, 1975) is currently rector of the major seminary of Madrid, an office he has held since 2015, as well as being national vice-consecretary of Manos Unidas. Ordained a priest in 2000, he has completed the Master's Degree in Vocational Discernment and Spiritual Accompaniment, a postgraduate course offered by the Faculty of Theology at Comillas. He has also studied for a Bachelor's Degree in Theology, specialising in Spirituality, a Postgraduate Master's Degree that the Faculty offers in five itineraries, four of which are on-site and one by distance learning.
