The Chair in Bioethics at Comillas Pontifical University received the Humanizar Award in the "Dissemination" category at the 9th edition of the Humanizar Awards given by the Centro de Humanización de la salud San Camilo, sponsored by GSK, which recognise the trajectory of individuals and entities for their projects, as well as research and dissemination with the aim of promoting a culture of the humanisation of health. Specifically, the jury of the awards recognises the commitment of the chair "to ethical reflection in health, through research, training and interdisciplinary dialogue".
The director of the chair, Rafael Amo, was in charge of collecting the award during the award ceremony held in Ciudad Real. In his speech, Amo said that this award is "a celebration of the values and principles that move us: human dignity, respect and the promotion of a truly people-centred health". "This award underlines the importance of ethical disclosure in health, something that our chair has promoted in a number of ways. Through our book collections, interdisciplinary bioethics seminars and other initiatives, we seek to bring bioethics closer to society, promoting accessible and in-depth reflection on current health challenges," he said.
In addition to the chair, this ninth edition of the event has awarded prizes to the Spanish Diabetes Federation, Discamino, Carmen Ferrer, Miguel Ángel Millán, Patuca, Instituto Experiencia del Paciente, Lucía Galán Bertrand and the Hospital Nacional de Parapléjicos de Toledo, which received a special prize.
