The 6th Conference of the OCCD Observatory analyses the future of diversity and inclusion in business
The event brought together academic, technical and business experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities of business diversity in the context of legal and technological developments.
3 March 2025
Comillas held the 6th Conference of the Observatory for Work-Life Balance, Co-responsibility and Diversity, a series of meetings organised by the observatory and focused on the challenges and opportunities facing diversity and inclusion in the business world. In a context of socio-political changes and technological advances, the irruption of artificial intelligence and new regulations, such as Law 15/2022 for equal treatment and the European regulation on AI, require companies to adapt their strategies to guarantee more equitable working environments.

Dolores Carrillo, vice-rector for Institutional Relations, Organisation and General Registrar, opened the meeting, highlighting the union between law and diversity: "if we analyse from the point of view of law, although sometimes it is difficult to identify it, there is also beauty and strength in it, especially if the law ends up being an instrument of social transformation in the time in which it has to act".
During the conference, legal experts, business representatives and technology specialists analysed how these regulations affect organisations and what measures they can take to guarantee equal opportunities without compromising privacy and other fundamental rights. There was also a debate on parity in the company, the impact of AI on diversity management and good practices for building more inclusive teams.
The awards ceremony of the Observatory of Conciliation, Co-responsibility and Diversity for the best End of Degree Project and the best Master's Thesis 2023/2024 was the perfect finale. Juan Pablo Huerga, then a student of the Dual Degree in Business Administration and Management and International Relations (E-6), won the award for the best End of Degree Project for his project "Análisis de la igualdad salarial en el deporte. El caso WTA y ATP". On the other hand, Jaime García Mayordomo, student of the Master's Degree in General Health Psychology and Master's Degree in Therapeutic Specialisation, was awarded for his work "Paternidad durante la primera infancia: un estudio de variables personales y familiares vinculadas a la participación del padre en la crianza".
