The second edition of the Excellent Performance Awards for Administration and Services Staff (PAS) at Comillas Pontifical University has its winners. Francisco Mateos, from the Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (Comillas CIHS), has won first prize in the individual category; María Benitez, from the Information Service team, second prize; and Marta Sanz, from the Human Resources Service, third prize. David Marcos, from the Office of the Dean of Economics and Business Administration, won the honourable mention awarded by the ICADE Asociación, and the team from the Information and Communications Technology Systems Support Service (STIC) won the award for best team.

The award ceremony, which was attended by the Rector, Enrique Sanz, SJ; the Vice Rector for Organisation and Digital Transformation, José María Ortiz; and the Manager of ICADE Asociación Profesional, Miguel Ángel de Bas, brought together the winners and their teams, and celebrated the excellence and value of the professionals who make up the university.

In his speech, the rector congratulated the winners, and highlighted the value of being attentive. “With your words and your cheerful gaze, you help us put at the centre our students and their families, lecturers and researchers, and everyone who is part of Comillas on a daily basis” he said. He also pointed out that, among the winners, there are people from both campuses of the university, Alberto Aguilera and Cantoblanco and that, even though both are very different, they share some qualities. “Idiosyncrasy leads to entirety, and entirety to idiosyncrasy. You make this happen every day. You make us believe in Comillas as an entirety”, he explained.

The awards, which were presented in 2022 for the first time, are organised by the Office of the Vice-Rector for Organisation and Digital Transformation, through the Office of Organisation and People, as a motivation for the staff in its different dimensions, placing skills and competencies at the centre.

These awards, which are sponsored by ICADE Asociación Profesional and Merlin Properties, recognise the commitment and good work of the university’s staff, and aim to highlight and reward the work of the PAS, a fundamental group of people needed to fulfil the university’s mission in society. These awards also aim to improve the employee experience by fostering a sense of belonging.

The winners have been nominated by their co-workers and by the PDI for their commitment to the university and for representing the principles, values, skills and key qualities that we aim to promote in our institution. The honourable mention is a distinction given by ICADE Asociación to a person who works as a PAS and has shown a good performance, orientation, service or teamwork.
