Doctoral Program in Theology
The aim of the Doctoral Program in Theology is to produce qualified experts who combine a mastery of a broad field of theology with an adequate scientific methodology, in order to contribute with original research to the advancement of theological knowledge.
What does this program consist of?
This research training is both transversal and specific to the chosen theological area. To obtain the Doctorate in Theology, specific training activities must be carried out, reviewed by the tutor and thesis supervisor, and evaluated each year by the program's academic committee; and a research plan must be drawn up and presented before the end of the first year (for full-time students) or at the end of the second year (for part-time students).
The aim of the activities is to create a space for intellectual encounters where young researchers can develop their theological training.
Through the development of activities, the aim is to generate a space for intellectual encounters where young researchers can develop their theological training - courses, conferences, seminars, attendance at congresses, publication of articles and mobility stays - in a context of excellent research, creativity, interdisciplinary perspective and teamwork.

Study Plan
Training Activities and Activity Log
The course can be studied on a full-time basis (3 years) or a part-time basis (5 years). Students will develop a set of research activities which will be spread between the years of study according to their Personalized Activity Log, agreed upon with their tutor and supervisor, with the final aim of completing the doctoral thesis.
Training activities:
The doctorate program includes research training activities which are allocated throughout the studies and which incorporate both transversal and specific training. They will be composed of courses, workshops, seminars, attendance at conferences, etc.
Activity Log:
Once enrolled on the program, a personalized doctoral activity log will be created for each student. All research interests and activities pursued during the program will be recorded in this log. The log will be checked regularly by the tutor and/or thesis supervisor and assessed by the Program's Academic Commission.
Research plan:
By the end of the first year (for full-time students) or by the end of the second year (for part-time students), the student will have created a research plan which must be approved by the tutor and thesis supervisor and favorably assessed by the department in which the program is taught.
In the first year of the course, and according to their previous training in research methods, students will take the complementary training modules deemed necessary by the Academic Commission during the admission process.

A maximum of three years, full-time, and five years, part-time, from admission to the program until the application for submission of the doctoral thesis is made.
No, you can defend your thesis at any time if it is admitted for defence, but you should note that the minimum tuition fees are three years full-time and five years part-time.
Initially, it is advisable to contact the program coordinator to assess the possible line of research and thesis supervisor. Afterwards, you will have to register in the admissions portal and upload the necessary documentation. Depending on the program, this documentation may vary, please read carefully the information note of the selected program where the required documents are detailed.
