What is the Master?

The Master's Degree in Ignatian Spirituality (Ignatian Master's Degree) is an interdisciplinary program that harmoniously combines History, Anthropology, Theology and spirituality studies as complementary perspectives for an integrated understanding of the Ignatian charism. Through the various contents and aspects that make up Ignatian spirituality, it encourages knowledge of the fundamental experiences, texts and contexts that inspire it, through direct reading of the sources and the selected bibliography. It also aims to provide an understanding of the mission of the Society of Jesus and other Ignatian-inspired institutions in the contemporary world based on the motivations and charism that inspire and sustain them.

The Master's Degree in Ignatian Spirituality is fully compatible with the Master's Degree (canonical degree) in Spiritual Theology at Comillas; students who have completed the Ignatian Master's Degree obtain recognition of the necessary credits to be able to complete the Master's Degree in Spiritual Theology in just one more academic year. In this way, two master's degrees can be obtained in two academic years. Since the Ignatian Master's is offered biennially, students can also begin their studies in the first year with the Master's in Spiritual Theology, and the following year conclude their studies with the Master's in Ignatian Spirituality, obtaining both degrees in two academic years.

Thus, Comillas Pontifical University wishes to offer this Ignatian formation program to all members of the Ignatian family and network, and to all those who wish to deepen their knowledge of this charism and spirituality.
