What does this Master consist of?
The Master's Degree in Smart Grids (MSG) is a Master of Science Degree with 90 ECTS credits, taught by the University of Strathclyde and the ICAI School of Engineering, in close collaboration with Iberdrola. The main objective of the program is to respond to the growing demand for engineers, needed to lead the ongoing process of the digitalization of the electric grid.
This program provides students with a detailed understanding of the operation and planning of grids under this new paradigm, along with new business opportunities and models that are arising in this constantly changing field. It has been developed in close collaboration with Iberdrola. This alliance guarantees both the practical component, thanks to the participation of industry, and the academic rigor of the courses.
For the next academic year we have scholarships covering 50% for our master students from Gridespertise (characteristics: The scholarship will account for 50% of the academic fees. The scholarship will guarantee to undertake the internship at Gridespertise.
Admission to the master program does not guarantee the scholarship; this decision is solely taken by Gridespertise).
The international experience is one of the most interesting features of the program
Students not only spend one semester in both Spain and Scotland, but also carry out internships at any of the international offices of the partner entities.

Study Plan
This Master’s Degree has a duration of 1 year (90 ECTS). Alternatively, it may be carried out over a period of two years, in conjunction with the Official Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering (MII) or the Official Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering (MIT).

The long-standing tradition of the ICAI School of Engineering in the education and training of engineers began in Madrid in the year 1908. At present, Comillas ICAI is a School of Engineering whose academic activity is focused on Industrial and Telecommunication Engineering.

Frequently asked questions
Because Comillas studies are in high demand and places are limited, the best candidates must be selected through admission tests.
Each class has its tutor, whose function is to integrate the student into the group and pay attention to their proper academic performance. In addition, at Comillas the teaching system is distinguished, among other characteristics, by personalised attention and the fluid and permanent relationship between teachers and students.
The Comillas teaching system is especially oriented towards the relationship with the reality of companies, institutions and organizations and professional practice. The Internship and Employment Office is in charge of providing students with internships related to their studies to enrich their training. In the 2017-18 academic year, 6,296 student internships were managed in companies.
In addition to these internships managed by the Office of Internships and Employment, all degrees have a significant load of compulsory external internships within their study plans.
The Internships and Employment Office informs, guides and collaborates in the insertion into the labour market of recent graduates or in the projection of the professional career of Comillas graduates, for this it has an online tool that directly relates to candidates with 5,078 companies with which Comillas has a relationship. During the 2017-18 academic year, 1,838 job offers were processed. Of the total number of graduates of the 2018 promotion, 93.22% are employed, either working or furthering their studies, in the six months following the completion of their studies.
