Information for students
Career opportunities and graduate profile
Professional opportunities
Students who take this programme with a markedly international profile enhance their professional opportunities with an attractive profile for international law firms, especially in Anglo-Saxon countries. Likewise, the possibility of taking the New York BAR EXAM allows students to broaden their professional horizons by practising law in the State of New York in any American law firm located there. This international profile is also highly appreciated by large law firms in Spain, which value the effort and the enriching experience, not only from an academic point of view, of having studied an LLM in the USA.
Graduate profile
Students graduating from this master's degree acquire the skills required to practise law in Spain, as well as the possibility of practising law in the USA by passing the BAR EXAM, which they can do by completing the LLM.
As far as the national level is concerned, the student must know how to operate in a very specific area of both legal professions, with special emphasis on the use of the main tools and techniques of action in the field of law, such as argumentation, communication, public speaking, writing and negotiation and the use of new technologies in this area, and on procedural strategy, litigation and alternative dispute resolution systems. In the field of legal representation, students will master the essential tools for the practice of this profession in all procedural areas (civil, criminal, contentious-administrative and labour) and, especially, will develop the skills required for the presentation and collection of written documents and communications digitally through LEXNET.
On the international side, by completing the LLM in the USA, students will broaden their communication skills and abilities in English, improve their adaptability to different environments and acquire an enormous analytical capacity, all of which are highly valued for the practice of law.
Academic Opportunities
In addition, the Master's Degree in Access to the Legal Profession and Procurement allows access to an official doctoral programme in accordance with current regulations.
Scholarships and grants
Follow all the steps and become a Comillas student.
Comillas is firmly committed to supporting students with the ability and merit to study and limited economic resources; each academic year the university invests a large number of resources in scholarships and study grants. This effort is made through its own funds and contributions from the Comillas University Foundation, but also thanks to the contribution of important foundations, entities and individuals.
