Official Master's Degree in Palliative Care
With the Master's Degree in Palliative Care, participants will acquire the specific knowledge to offer terminally ill patients and their families comprehensive, continuous and individualised care in physical, emotional, social and spiritual aspects, promoting autonomy and respecting the dignity of the patient.
What does this Master's consist of?
This official master's degree in palliative care addresses the knowledge of illnesses, symptoms and therapeutic options from a multidisciplinary perspective, and provides an in-depth assessment of the problems that patients face at the end of life, including global suffering, and an understanding of the grieving process. In addition, students will learn how to manage specific palliative care programs.
It is aimed at professional specialisation and further research training. The master's degree gives access to the PhD program in "Health, Welfare and Bioethics."
Students who take the Master's Degree in Palliative Care have the opportunity to carry out internships in palliative care teams, and will be able to learn, alongside the best professionals, about different organisational structures, such as hospital, support or home teams, both in the field of adult and paediatric patients.
This Master's Degree has the scientific endorsement of SECPAL.

The Master's Degree in Palliative Care provides students with the specific knowledge and skills that will enable them to offer terminally ill patients and their families comprehensive, continuous and individualised care, in physical, emotional, social and spiritual aspects, promoting autonomy and respecting the dignity of the patient, in services such as hospital care, home care, outpatient consultations, day hospital and in all those specific palliative care units that are being developed as a result of the increase in the need for care at the end of life, due among other causes to a longer life expectancy of the population.
In addition, the master's degree in palliative care is aimed at promoting research in this area of knowledge, developing the ability to apply the principles of scientific research and to design and develop research projects in the field of palliative care.

The "San Juan de Dios" University School of Nursing and Physiotherapy has been offering studies in Nursing for more than 55 years, and for more than 25 years in Physiotherapy, which has allowed it to consolidate an education of recognised prestige that integrates scientific and technical advances in its methodology with the humanisation of care as a sign of its identity. He joined Comillas Pontifical University in 1988.

Because Comillas studies are in high demand and places are limited, the best candidates have to be selected through admission tests.
Each class has its own tutor, whose function is to integrate the student into the group and to pay attention to their academic performance. Furthermore, at Comillas, the teaching system is distinguished, among other characteristics, by the personalised attention and the fluid and permanent relationship between teachers and students.
The teaching system at Comillas is especially oriented towards the relationship with the reality of companies, institutions, organisations and professional practice. The Internship and Employment Office is responsible for providing students with internships related to their studies in order to enrich their training. In the 2017-18 academic year, 6,296 student internships in companies were managed.
In addition to these internships managed by the Internship and Employment Office, all degree courses have a significant number of compulsory external internships as part of their curriculums.The Internship and Employment Office informs, guides and collaborates in the insertion in the labour market of recent graduates or in the projection of the professional career of Comillas graduates, for which it has an online tool that puts candidates in direct contact with 5,078 companies with which Comillas maintains a relationship. During the 2017-18 academic year, 1,838 job offers were managed. Of the total number of graduates from the 2018 graduating class, 93.22% are employed, either working or furthering their studies, within six months of completing their studies.
