What does this master's degree consist of?

The new educational and social reality needs educational and psycho-pedagogical guidance professionals with specialised training and personal skills that enable them to become agents of educational change and social transformation, capable of inspiring, inspiring and activating the commitment of diverse teaching teams.

Therefore, to define the academic competences of this postgraduate course, we have taken into account four areas of development and specialisation: professional, personal, attention to diversity and support for educational management.

Competences to be acquired

GENERAL COMPETENCES

CG01 - Acquire and understand specialised knowledge with scientific evidence, both theoretical and practical in the fields of educational guidance, attention to diversity, social transformation and the personal competences of educational psychology professionals.
GC02 - Apply and connect the knowledge acquired to solve current educational challenges, which are multidisciplinary and to design relevant research.
GC03 - Assess and select the pedagogical and psychological paradigms that are most effective in each situation or context from an attitude of commitment, reflection and ethical responsibility.
GC04 - Transmit in an understandable and accessible way the relevant results of current scientific research and its theoretical foundations.
GC05 - Acquire the methodological skills needed to develop applied research in the field of psycho-pedagogy.
GC06 - Integrate the specialised knowledge acquired by means of relevant bibliographical review and personal reflection.

SPECIFIC COMPETENCES

CE01 - Performs psycho-pedagogical assessment and reports, referral and schooling reports for students from 0 to 17 years of age.
SC02 - Knows the fundamentals of educational psychobiology as a discipline of neuroscience.
SC03 - Designs and applies measures for the prevention of possible situations of atypical evolution.
SC04 - Designs, applies and evaluates intervention and accompaniment programs derived from the psycho-pedagogical assessment, in students from 0 to 17 years of age.
SC05 - Knows the specific functions of a Educational Psychologist and the professional tasks of guidance, prevention, assessment and intervention.
SC06 - Manages work groups and guides the team of teachers and tutors in psycho-pedagogical intervention actions.
SC07 - Coordinates the networking of an educational centre with the resources and services of the community.
SC08 - Knows the functions and protocols of collaboration with early intervention teams, specific teams, and educational and psycho-pedagogical guidance teams.
SC09 - Plans support resources for families from the systemic model.
SC10 - Knows the specific needs of training and accompaniment, taking into account family diversity in students from 0 to 17 years of age.
SC11 - Collaborates with the management team in coordinated actions between the school and families.
SC12 - Prepares educational research projects and reports in order to improve the quality of the teaching-learning process.
SC13 - Knows relevant and current research in the field of educational psychology and the ways of disseminating these results.
SC14 - Designs, implements and evaluates tools for the assessment of teaching performance.

Since its foundation, the Faculties of Human and Social Sciences, Theology and Canon Law at Comillas Pontifical University have had the vocation to promote humanism and plurality.

  • Because Comillas studies are in high demand and places are limited, the best candidates have to be selected through admission tests.

  • Each class has its own tutor, whose function is to integrate the student into the group and to pay attention to their academic performance. Furthermore, at Comillas, the teaching system is distinguished, among other characteristics, by the personalised attention and the fluid and permanent relationship between teachers and students.

  • The teaching system at Comillas is especially oriented towards the relationship with the reality of companies, institutions, organisations and professional practice. The Internship and Employment Office is responsible for providing students with internships related to their studies in order to enrich their training. In the 2017-18 academic year, 6,296 student internships were managed in companies.
    In addition to these internships managed by the Internship and Employment Office, all degree courses have a significant number of compulsory external internships as part of their curriculums.

  • The Internship and Employment Office informs, guides and collaborates in the insertion in the labour market of recent graduates or in the projection of the professional career of Comillas graduates, for which it has an online tool that puts candidates in direct contact with 5,078 companies with which Comillas maintains a relationship. During the 2017-18 academic year, 1,838 job offers were managed. Of the total number of graduates from the 2018 graduating class, 93.22% are employed, either working or furthering their studies, within six months of completing their studies.
