What is the Course?
This is a training course for students who have taken the course Didactic resources and evaluation for teaching English in the classroom and who wish to broaden their knowledge of didactics and innovation in the teaching of a foreign language (in this case, English) to Spanish-speaking students.
This is a theoretical-practical training in which students can learn different methodological approaches within what is known as CLIL, accompanied by a heavy load of classroom practice that will help them to consolidate their knowledge and implement it in the classroom with real students and teachers.

Requirements
In order to enrol in the specialist course, students must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a degree, graduate, diploma or equivalent.
- Have passed the specialist course "Teaching resources and evaluation for English language teaching in the school classroom".
- Have an A2 level of Spanish.

Objectives and methodology
The course Specialist in Innovative Pedagogical Proposals Applied to English Language Teaching is given in collaboration with Escuelas Católicas de Madrid (ECM).
This course is designed to provide quality training for conversation assistants, showing them how to plan classes, classroom management, the different methods of teaching English grammar and preparation for Cambridge exams.
The objectives of this specialist course are as follows:
- To be familiar with Spanish legislation on educational innovation.
- To learn about the functions of conversation assistants and how they can collaborate in an innovative centre.
- To become familiar with the organisation of an educational centre that uses innovative methodologies applied to foreign languages.
- To know the common terms and concepts in English language teaching and the options and resources that can be used in the classroom to reinforce them.
This specialist is based on an active and participative methodology. The teaching modality will be blended learning, completing the classroom training with training on the online platform and with the presentation, at the end of the course, of a personal project.

Because Comillas studies are in high demand and places are limited, the best candidates have to be selected through admission tests.
Each class has its own tutor, whose function is to integrate the student into the group and to pay attention to their academic performance. Furthermore, at Comillas, the teaching system is distinguished, among other characteristics, by the personalised attention and the fluid and permanent relationship between teachers and students.
The teaching system at Comillas is especially oriented towards the relationship with the reality of companies, institutions, organisations and professional practice. The Internship and Employment Office is responsible for providing students with internships related to their studies in order to enrich their training. In the 2017-18 academic year, 6,296 student internships in companies were managed.
In addition to these internships managed by the Internship and Employment Office, all degree courses have a significant number of compulsory external internships as part of their curriculums.The Internship and Employment Office informs, guides and collaborates in the insertion in the labour market of recent graduates or in the projection of the professional career of Comillas graduates, for which it has an online tool that puts candidates in direct contact with 5,078 companies with which Comillas maintains a relationship. During the 2017-18 academic year, 1,838 job offers were managed. Of the total number of graduates from the 2018 graduating class, 93.22% are employed, either working or furthering their studies, within six months of completing their studies.
