Specialist in Learning Resources and Assessment of English Teaching in the Classroom
What is the Course?
It is given in collaboration with Escuelas Católicas de Madrid as a training program for people who are in Spain collaborating in the BEDA Program as conversation assistants, in order to better adapt to their interests and needs.
The title Specialist in Didactic Resources and Evaluation for English Language Teaching in the School Classroom is the reinforcement of the course "Specialist in Bilingual Teaching in Spain: Methodology and Evaluation in the English Language" and is created as a specialisation of the same. In this way, English language assistants take this second specialist course which shows them the Spanish Education System and its correlation with Bilingual Programs, the different methods of teaching English and English grammar, and preparation for the Cambridge exams.

Requirements
In order to enrol in the specialist course, students must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a degree, graduate or diploma or equivalent.
- Have passed the specialist course "Bilingual teaching in Spain: methodology and evaluation in the English language".
- Have an A2 level of Spanish.

Objectives and methodology
The course, Specialist in Didactic Resources and Evaluation for English Language Teaching in the School Classroom, is given in collaboration with Escuelas Católicas de Madrid (ECM).
This course is designed to provide quality training for language assistants, showing them how to plan classes, classroom management, the different methods of teaching English grammar and preparation for the Cambridge exams.
The objectives of this specialist course are as follows:
- In-depth knowledge of the functions of student teaching assistants and how they can develop them in an educational centre.
- Knowledge of different didactic resources for learning the English language at different educational stages.
- To favour dynamics in the educational relationship between the role of the teacher and the student assistant for the improvement of teaching in which they can manage and exploit classroom events and interactions.
- Deepen the developmental approach to teaching and learning in which subjects are taught and studied by means of a language that is not the learner's mother tongue.
- To study in depth how the Cambridge exams assess students according to their educational level at Secondary, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training stages.
This specialist is based on an active and participative methodology. The teaching modality will be blended learning, completing the classroom training with training on the online platform and with the presentation, at the end of the course, of a personal project.

Furthermore, at Comillas, the teaching system is distinguished, among other characteristics, by the personalised attention and the fluid and permanent relationship between teachers and students.
The teaching system at Comillas is especially oriented towards the relationship with the reality of companies, institutions, organisations and professional practice. The Internship and Employment Office is responsible for providing students with internships related to their studies in order to enrich their training. In the 2017-18 academic year, 6,296 student internships were managed in companies.
In addition to these internships managed by the Internship and Employment Office, all degree courses have a significant number of compulsory external internships as part of their curriculums.The Internship and Employment Office informs, guides and collaborates in the insertion in the labour market of recent graduates or in the projection of the professional career of Comillas graduates, for which it has an online tool that puts candidates in direct contact with 5,078 companies with which Comillas maintains a relationship. During the 2017-18 academic year, 1,838 job offers were managed. Of the total number of graduates from the 2018 graduating class, 93.22% are employed, either working or furthering their studies, within six months of completing their studies.
