On 24 November 2023, the Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium celebrated its 10th anniversary. For his part, Professor Santiago García Mourelo, PhD, from the Faculty of Theology, has published his article "Recovering the original freshness of the Gospel (EG 11). Ten years after Evangelii Gaudium" on themes, contents and criteria developed in this magisterial document in a retrospective and current key. The article is published in the Youth Pastoral Magazine 'Misión Joven' (nn. 564-565, 2024).
Professor Santiago García Mourelo has a PhD in Theology, belongs to the Department of Dogmatic and Fundamental Theology and is an expert, among other subjects, in youth ministry, accompaniment and catechetics. He is currently the Coordinator of Theological Extension and Christian Social Thought at Comillas Pontifical University.
The following is a summary of his published article:
The present study offers a retrospective of Evangelii gaudium from the point of view of youth ministry. It points out its novelty in the contents and criteria, as well as the themes that have been made explicit in subsequent teaching developments. Finally, the open and, therefore, pending processes in which the ecclesial community is currently embarked are indicated.
