Professor of the Faculty of Theology, Julio L. Martínez, SJ publishes his book Teología moral en salida. Deshacer nudos y afrontar retos (SalTerrae, 2023) now translated into Portuguese in a new Brazilian edition entitled Teologia Moral em Saída - Desfazer Nós e Enfrentar Desafios ( Paulus Editora, 2024. ISBN: 9788534954877).
The following is a summary of the new edition (original in Portuguese):
This work presents the ecclesial contexts in which moral renewal is called for. It delves into the questions of epistemology and moral-theological method, to outline the keys to an emerging moral theology, providing contributions to Lonergan's method in theology and Murray's applications of it. It undertakes the departure to anthropology, starting from the conception that anthropology is the key to mediating between Christology and morality, and that there are four categories for renewing the anthropological foundations of morality (vulnerability, care, encounter and recognition). The difficulties and possibilities for moral theology to participate in the public debate are analysed, always in relation to the different ecclesiological models and the parameters of technological post-modernity and the digital environment.
