A successful year for the Santalucía Chair of Analytics for Education

Comillas Pontificial University has presented the annual results of the Santalucía Chair of Analytics for Education, which is part of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (Comillas ICADE). Both its co-director, Comillas ICADE lecturer José Luis Arroyo, and the faculty's vice-dean, Javier Márquez, highlighted the main milestones of the year, with particular emphasis on research activity and the teaching and research dimension. “Our YouTube channel, with 63 videos and a growing audience, offers high-quality open training, allowing students and professionals to access cutting-edge knowledge in analytics, such as large language models, Kolmogorov-Arnold networks, Bayesian optimization, or topic modelling,” Arroyo stated.

For his part, Dominique Uzel, General Director of Business at Santalucía, contextualized the state of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence in the global political landscape with its prominence in current news. He also confirmed the insurance company's commitment to harnessing the full potential of this digital transformation by implementing the latest AI and advanced analytics solutions in its business, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with Comillas to do so responsibly and effectively.

In this regard, Antonio Muñoz, Director of the Higher Technical School of Engineering (Comillas ICAI), asserted during his presentation titled “Trends in explainability of neural network models” that this is “a topic of great interest for our research, as these networks allow the development of models of academic performance and drop-out with high precision, and that, in addition, have significantly improved in explainability.”

Furthermore, the dean of the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences, Mª Teresa Corzo, rejoiced at the success of the chair, stating that “this project promises to yield very good results for a long time.”
