A new agreement to enhance education and social awareness

This agreement aims to harness and enhance resources through student internship programmes, undergraduate and master's degree courses that facilitate the training of future professionals or the retraining of those already in practice, as well as to carry out actions and strategies for mission development in international cooperation, education for global citizenship, communication and social awareness, public advocacy and volunteering.

The agreement sets out ten strategic lines of collaboration, such as the collaboration of the Chair of Refugees and Forced Migrants and Entreculturas in academic research and training and communication activities in the field of refugee and forced migrations, and also open to other causes such as ecology, education, etc.

A second line is to give continuity to the collaboration between the University Institute for Migration Studies, the University Master's Degree in International Development Cooperation, the Kairos Programme and Entreculturas, as well as other existing collaborations, as well as new ones that may arise, such as a the Chair in Children's Rights.

The third line reflects the collaboration of Comillas, through the Chair of Social Impact, with Entreculturas to support its processes of measuring and managing social impact.

The collaboration between Comillas and Entreculturas in the framework of subjects with Learning and Service methodology is also envisaged.

The fifth strategic line of collaboration on the promotion of social awareness campaigns and volunteer activities carried out through Comillas Solidaria, together with Entreculturas, aims to take advantage of and strengthen the resources of both institutions to collaborate in the processes of comprehensive training and the promotion of commitment and citizen participation of students and the university community.

A sixth line of collaboration is shared by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (Comillas CIHS) and Entreculturas, focused on activities aimed at raising awareness, promoting and ensuring the Right to Education of all peoples, especially those living in emergency situations, and through educational research related to the analysis of needs and the evaluation of the effectiveness of Entreculturas programmes.

The signed agreement also includes the collaboration of the Professional Careers, Internships and Employment Guidance Service of Comillas and Entreculturas in the design of a curricular Internship Programme and collaboration in the employability of students in the different departments of Entreculturas.

The eighth strategic line of collaboration consists of the coordination of Comillas and Entreculturas to generate research proposals, final degree projects and final master's degree projects on subjects related to the field of interest of Entreculturas and the faculties or centres of the university and specifically in the promotion of socio-environmental justice.

The agreement also states that Comillas will work with Entreculturas from a strategic approach for the design and implementation of policies or activities related to sustainability, university social responsibility, the 2030 Agenda, proposals and specific content for alumni, the causes of education, defence of migrants and refugees, promotion of socio-environmental justice, global citizenship and participation, gender equality and other common causes.

Finally, this agreement states that Comillas and Entreculturas will explore possibilities of support in the area of people and culture.

The signing was attended, on behalf of Comillas, by the Rector, Enrique Sanz, SJ, and the Vice Rector for Alumni and Students, Belén Urosa, and on behalf of Entreculturas, by the Executive Director of Entreculturas, Ramón Almansa, and the Coordinator of Communication and Campaigns of Entreculturas, Nacho Esteve.
